Virtually everything that needs being taken care of for our move is now done – Only last-minute things that are surely to crop up unforeseen will need my attention, whenever they occur. So, the stress levels have faded, and my night’s sleep is undisturbed – for now.

Two items still needing care, but for which I have plans in place, are to remove a jerry-rigged light fixture inside our master-bedroom closet I installed to aid in our seeing in dim light in the bedroom, and dismantling our computer “network” here in such a way that I would be able to reconstruct it in our new home. The latter is not a simple matter for a non-computer-nerd.

So, the inspector who conducted our full house inspection in preparation for our putting it on the market, identified the light in the closet as not by code and recommended it be removed or installed by an electrician to meet safety standards. I had intended to leave the fixture in place because the lighting in the master bedroom isn’t sufficient to see well in the closet when the sun goes down, and the fixture is a major help. My plan now is to remove it just before the movers come to haul our things to the new apartment, but leave the fixture in the closet with a note to the new owners to hire an electrician to install a properly affixed fixture.

As for the taking down of the computer network here, my favorite son Paul has offered to come by just before the movers come and take the external hard drives/servers (I think that’s what they’re called) apart from the network enough that just our computers and the Comcast router remain to insure we will have access to our TV programs up to the time the movers move in. (The diagram I drew up shows the backside of the Xfinity router and its many connections within the network here. It is not a simple thing that will need to be done.)

The morning of the move, I will take our computers down, detach the Tivo unit and our DVD/Blueray player from the TV, and load them all in our cars for the move. I will be able to connect these parts in the network in our apartment, as that will be straightforward and something I did in connecting things up at first. At some time after the move, Paul will bring the servers and external hard drives and reconnect them in the new apartment.
