Reasons For My Blog:
Herein is a portal to my inner playground where people have left their footprints in the sand and memories in my heart…
I have always had an incredibly rich inner life, one that has fired my relationships and afforded me deep satisfaction and pleasure. Two areas over the years have been stoked by these same fires, those being writing and photography. Both are artistic outlets that feed my need to create, to generate, to share.
I have loved the written word from a young age. I remember the exercises in cursive writing, fascinated by the smooth connections each letter had with the one next to it, ending in a collection that meant something. And it was intriguing all letters touching each other.
For years I was oblivious of what I was doing when I wrote, what was going on inside. It wasn’t until much later that I wondered where all of this was coming from, what it meant, and how it all worked. I’m still not sure I understand but have the sense that there is some mechanism involved. It doesn’t “work” by just willing it to happen, or clicking my heels and saying, “Create…!” It’s more a relaxing into it, toning down the Mach-5 vibrations of today’s world and listening to what’s going on right around me. When reality can tell me what’s happening that’s when the creative process happens.
For me writing and photography are leaping off places into realms otherwise difficult to penetrate as adults. These are places we used to frequent as children when our minds were open and fluid like a running brook, but that closed more and more as we “grew up.” For some of us lucky ones we’ve retained access to this world because we kept a “back door” open to it. Sometimes we recognize each other and share our sacred handshake acknowledging membership in this exclusive club. This blog is for us kindred souls, but it’s also for anyone willing to risk opening that “back door” and coming home again…
