This is an anthology of 1001 puns I initially started working on to please my grandchildren, and it grew like Topsy into a major work that first entertained them much to my delight, then morphed into a major book soon to be published.

Around mid-2008 I embarked on a fascinating journey with my grandchildren that centered around joke telling. Casey had asked me to tell him “the world’s worst joke,” but when I explained that I didn’t know any his disappointment drove me to try to come up with at least one good joke. This began a series of jokes shared with Casey and Venice, and later with Xander and Teiya, of jokes having to do with of all things, cows. I cobbled together a batch of 10-12 cow jokes and shared them with the grandchildren, much to their delight. Eventually I ended up with 100 which I put together in a self-published book. Deciding that 100 as an even number was too predictable and bland I added one more for a total of 101 jokes for a book titled, “The World’s 101 Worst Cow Jokes” and made it available on Amazon.com. There followed a lengthy list of additional puns that eventually resulted in seven more volumes of “The World’s 101 Worst Puns,” volumes II through VIII.
In July of 2015 I received an email from a woman introducing herself as an acquisitions editor for a small independent publisher who was seeking authors of puns for a project she was pursuing, a book of “dad jokes” for publication in early 2016. She said she had reached out to several authors of puns and had come across my volumes of puns on Amazon.com and would I consider discussing the possibility of working with her on her project. I agreed to discuss the question and within several months signed a contract with Ulysses Press out of Berkeley, CA, to work with her on the project. The goal was to publish a volume tentatively titled “The Ultimate Book of Dad Jokes” around February 2016. Promotional efforts would target sales leading up to Father’s Day.
This book went from my editors to the printer as of March 9th. It is currently available to “Pre-order” through Amazon.com.
