Last night we held a gala book signing for our book, “The Ultimate Book of Dad Jokes” for author, me, and illustrators, Casey, Venice, Xander, and Teiya (Sadly Teiya was home sick and missed the signing. Her grandfather, however, dropped a batch of books by during the day and she was able to pen her signature in the books for the event.) – We gathered together the whole famn dambly from Eugene: Me and Barbara – Tori&Paul Beyer-Nagai and Casey and Teiya – Diana&Chris Nagai-Bailey and Venice and Xander – Cathy&Keith Beyer (Tori’s folks) – and Linda&Rob Bailey (Chris’ folks) from Newport Beach in Southern California…
The signing took a very short time and we were finished easily – Everyone signed on the Dedication page which had the most space – I penned a greeting to whomever the book was for (“Be kind to tellers of puns – They can’t help it…!”) and the grandkids signed their John Hancocks in a variety of colors in their own character styles – Because Teiya was home ill she missed being photographed here…
Following the signing, chronicled by photographer Diana, we munched on chili brownies (with authentic organic chili acho for flavoring), caramel popcorn, EVIL chocolate chip cookies, and candied pecans downed with sodas and white and red wines…
A festive time was had as family caught up on each other’s lives and recent happenings – A side acknowledgement was the chronicle tabletop book Diana put together of all the daily blogs she and the family posted for us back state-side from their three-month stay in Berlin last fall – A most monumental pulling together of words, pictures, and impressions from what was a wonderful family experience…
We ended the evening feeling satisfied and accomplished, and having eaten way too much of the munchies…!
