Well, the movers came yesterday promptly at 9:00 as they were scheduled, and they set about assessing each room with the place in the truck for each item, or at least the larger items – They figured out that our large screen TV would be blanketed and placed facing into our mattress, which would give added protection – I would not have thought of that – all throughout the day the men came up with creative solutions to what were to me impossible needs, and they did it with little time to consider – They were great…!

Virtually everything that needs being taken care of for our move is now done – Only last-minute things that are surely to crop up unforeseen will need my attention, whenever they occur. So, the stress levels have faded, and my night’s sleep is undisturbed – for now.
Now that the hubbub is starting to slow down as we inch toward our move on April 2nd, the stress level is diminishing quite a bit, and things are becoming clearer – as for example, with all that I’ve been stressing over to “get done” by the time of the move, it has all come about and my fretting didn’t speed things up any at all…! Fancy that…! And some of the things I worried about
Ok, things are moving along nicely, and virtually all the things that need doing before we move and before the house goes on the market, are getting done – Today I contracted to have the last fix-it task done, a “minor” problem with some dry rot behind a downspout on the west side of the house taken care of, and thankfully it’s not going to cost an arm and a leg, and I like the
I just finished sweeping the entire basement under the house – The space covers roughly 2/3s of the area of the house proper, but without insulation in the external walls or under the floorboards – There is insulation in the basement ceiling which is actually the underside of the floor of the main house – Well, you get the picture – A couple of weeks back we had our favorite eldest grandson
Grandfathers are always wise, but not always so smart – On Saturday I spent the afternoon supervising and assisting my favorite eldest grandson Casey and favorite youngest granddaughter Teiya as they helped us in our downsizing, this with cleaning up our basement that had become the repository for a whole s#&tload of stuff and junk over the past 13 years we’ve been in
Yesterday I helped a handyman deal with a segment of our kitchen wall that had pencil and ballpoint pen markings on it chronicling growth markings of our 4 favorite grandchildren between 2008 and 2018 – our two eldest, Casey and Venice, were 5 at their first markings, the two youngest, Xander and Teiya, were 2 – We took measurements every 6 months, and over the years the markings slowly rose higher and higher till in 2018 Casey’s and Xander’s reached and surpassed their Jiichan’s height – Well, At one point I took photos of
Ok, the process continues – This morning I undertook the process of pulling all the nails and hooks we used to hang framed photographs, mounted posters, and various things to be hung on our walls – There must have been a gazillion nails and hooks, so pulling them all was only the first half of the task – Next came filling all the holes with putty to cover them up – So, task now completed, and all the walls are now back to their pre-occupation splendor – We’re getting that much closer…
We’re continuing to downsize for our move which is set for later in March – Specific date still to be confirmed – But the latest on the home front is that I’ve now removed every framed photograph we had on our walls, as well as mounted posters and such, and one large 48″ x 60″ framed painting by a Native American artist, and all are now wrapped for shipping to our new home whenever that gets settled – There are 2 paintings to be
