We’ve been on the waitlist at Cascade Manor, a Continuing Care Retirement Community, since last spring with the possible move in early fall, Septemberish or so – we were accepted and decided because of the pandemic we’d postpone our move till the end of the year, New Years – We were given the opportunity in late December to opt in with a 2-bedroom apartment for possible move come soon after the end of January, had a for-real tour with masks on, paid our down payment to accept placement, and on Thursday met with the woman in charge of moving in to go over selection of wall colors, choice of rugs, and wood floor options – We easily made the floor choice, to keep the floor already there, and after looking at the packet of a gazillion Sherwin-Williams paint swatches and a load of rug samples, brought both sample packets home to look more closely – We were shown a photo of a recent occupant’s choice of wall colors, a fire-engine red (not the name of the color, but you get the picture) that covered a wall section – stunning alongside a more muted egg-shell white tone – So, we had that in mind as we looked through the possible colors and tones, comparing each with the different colors of rug possibilities – WELL HELL, it didn’t make it any easier having these samples here at home, there are so many variations of even one color, and the swatches are so small at 2.5″ x 3″, with the rug samples 3″ x 4″ where the swatches and rug samples change color depending on what lighting is operative – We mainly first considered the base color for our apartment, settling for 2 possible off-white colors, similar to the 2 that we have in our Panorama Drive home that we love, and then looked at and considered 2 brick reds, a couple of goldens tones, a pale turquoise hue, and a semi-light brown, each by themselves, pretty striking – we compared each with the rug sample we finally decided on, a light tan-beige, and it was still a difficult choice – when we considered the various wall spaces with the given layout of the apartment, we came to the conclusion that there wasn’t a wall that made sense to paint a bright show-stopper color, even though the thought was enticing, and we eventually decided no bright colored wall, and after some more thought, decided instead of 2-off white colors for the whole apartment, chose the one of the 2 we liked best, and decided the whole apartment would be just one tone, Navajo White….SO, with those decisions, the team renovating our apartment in preparation for our moving in, started their work giving us some 4-6 weeks and we’ll be set to make our move into our home for the rest of our lives in early March…! What a relief…!
