Still working on the downsizing for our move come mid-March – yesterday spent the afternoon with my grandson Casey and granddaughter Teiya as they mainly helped clean up our downstairs basement – Because of my ticker I was conscious of not pushing myself too hard and let them do the work – The layout of the basement is the exact footprint of the house floor plan, but without any floor coverings or insulation, but there sure was a s$&tload of stuff and junk all over – we had something like a thousand sheets of wrapping paper nicely folded in piles that we used to package all our stuff for coming here from Berkeley 13 years ago…! WRAPPING PAPER…! Like what were we thinking in saving it all…? And because I’d forgotten it was there, we haven’t been using any of it for packing stuff now for this move…! Also found a passel of used cardboard boxes, some that were used for packaging up stuff for our move from Berkeley, and those too were down there unused and nothing for this move – There was a huge cardboard castle painted pink from a birthday for our favorite eldest granddaughter maybe for her 7th birthday, which our favorite daughter Diana and I put together with a plastic riveting kit she’d found somewhere – It didn’t take us long to cut the castle into more bite-sized chunks to haul upstairs for later hauling to the dump – There was also a couple of old blankets the grandkids used for some purpose down there when they were younger, and a whole carload of bath towels, hand towels, and beach towels we had there for some reason, tho the reason escapes me after all these years – 13 years in the basement, and where did we get all those towels in the first place, and why so many…? Well, the place is now clean of all stuff needing to be downsized, and only sweeping and making it neat for presentation when the house goes on the market – Getting on now with the downsizing….Oh, and BTW – Casey and Teiya worked their a$$3$ off for us for 3 long and hard hours of work – I tired more easily and quickly than they did, and when I suggested taking a break, they said ok, but after a couple of very short minutes, they were at it again – They really worked hard, so ended up paying them minimum wage (unlike congress) plus a $5 bonus just for good measure, as my Mom would say…
